The Clutter is Gone – What’s Next?Eliminate Clutter

Now your space is clutter free and you have decided on the things that you want to keep. The next step is to set up storage for those things, places they can call home, places they will be returned to whenever they are finished being used. The main idea here is to organize your possessions so your space will be cleared and you’ll be able to find whatever you want, whenever you want it.

Here are some ideas for storage in various areas of the home:
  • This first tip goes for every area – Have accessible trash cans. Even your trash needs a place for storage or it will end up on the floor, table or shoved in a drawer. Make disposing of unwanted things convenient.
  • For children’s spaces - Find storage bins that will fit under the bed, these can hold anything from shoes to extra bedding to toys. Also use the walls. Install shelving units on the walls to hold such things as school projects, books and personal items. Bulletin boards are great for displaying their handiwork.
  • Kitchen Pantry - If you are fortunate enough to have a pantry, don’t just keep piling in the food. Oranize places for the different types of food – canned, snacks, pasta, or whatever you may be storing. Take note how grocery stores organize their shelves – yours is just on a smaller scale. You can also label the shelves to help everyone in the household put things in their correct place.
  • Garage Storage – The most popular types of storage for garages are shelving units or cabinets. Using plastic bins for storing will protect the contents from moisture and dust. Wall mounted racks are great for hanging tools and equipment.
  • Bathroom Storage – Under the sink is a great place for storage, but because of the plumbing, it can also be awkward and things can be hard to get to, put a lazy susan in the space, and it will be easier to get to all of your items and make it easier to keep things neat & tidy. Use your wall space also, put up attractive cabinets or shelves for storage.

Whatever space in your home you are focusing on, good storage is key to staying organized and clutter free. Be creative with your storage solutions and have fun.
