What a great Color Palette can do for you

Color is an amazing part of our lives. It can create moods and stir feelings. It can make us feel relaxed, lively, romantic and even agitated. You can use color to energize or cool down, to create a feeling of elegance or playfulness.

A color palette simply put is a color scheme. When the right color palette is used, it will be your most effective and bold design element you can use.

If you are  ready to change it up a bit, here are some things for you to consider:

  • Decide on the mood you want to create – How do you want the space to make you feel? If you want your room to feel warm and energizing, choose Orange. Green creates a comforting and friendly feeling, Yellow is cheerful and high energy, Blue is for calmness and tranquility. Choose white if you want to create a clean organized space and Brown is comfortable, earthy and grounded.
  • Choose your accent colors – Your accent colors will be in smaller amounts and won’t effect the mood you are trying to create with your main color. If your main color is creating a vibrant look, use a Complementary color scheme which means using colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. If you’re trying to create a peaceful and comfortable feeling, use an Analogus color scheme by using colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. Another way to create a vibrant room is by using a Triadic color scheme by selecting colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel.
  • Don’t be afraid to use color – If you are just not sure where to start, choose a color you love, maybe from a rug, a painting, some fabric – an inspiration piece.
